This week we take a look at how local songs fared on the charts. Bubbling under songs that never debut on the charts. And songs that rocked other charts of the world but failed to do so on the 987FM top 20.

This year surely isnt a very good one for local artiste/bands. As they rather poorly on the charts. With only 4 Singapore songs debut on the charts. They were

Desperate by Daphne Khoo
My Witch by Richard Jensen
Just Us Two by Max Shanti
Later 2Nite by Mark Bonafide

All of the above (except for Max Shanti's Just Us Two) could only peak at no.18, staying only for 3 weeks, the only exception was Richard J's My Witch, which stayed for 1 month. Just Us Two is this year's best performing local song, spending a whopping 6 weeks on the charts and peaking at 9, a feat which is comparable to other artisite such as Simple Plan's Your Love Is A Lie, Paramore's That's What You Get and many more. Even so, it is still unable to repeat the success story written by last year local songs, especially Don & Drew's Bouncy Bouncy Smack Smack which is one of the 2 local songs that managed to top the singapore charts (the other belongs to electrico's Love In New Wave), and is the only local song to appear in the top10 of the year end countdown.

Yes. This is the list of songs that were bubbling under, but was unable to debut on the charts. Significant songs that were unable to chart would include You Are The Music In Me by the high school musical cast and MCR's Disenchannted. David Cook's lead single- Light On from his self-titled album was also unable to debut. There's also Hollywood's Not America by Ferras, which is the song played on this season's American Idol when a contestent is knocked out of the competition, Yael Naim's New Soul which was featured on the iPod commercial not too long ago. Will.I.Am would also be asking for One More Chance to be featured on the charts.

Chris Brown's Forever topped the AT40 for 4 weeks, but could only peak at no.7 here. It's the same story for Jesse McCartney's Leavin', it could on peak at no.9 on the 987FM top 20, yet it managed to top AT40 for 6 whopping weeks. Mercy by Duffy topped the UK charts for 5 weeks, but could only reach no7 in singapore. Ne-Yo's Closer and Kid Rock's All Summer Long, both spent a short stint (1 week) at no1 in uk, however it could only reach no.8 here, on the singapore charts. Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl topped the UK for 5 weeks, this song however could only be played on the radio for 1 week, and soon after that it was banned by the MDA.

For the last 987FM Top 100 preview before the actual countdown, we will take a walk down memory lane and have a look on 2005/06/07's top 10 song, and try to predict the top 10 for this year's. We will also see the record breakers in 2008- biggest dropper, jumper etc
